Note added 8 August 2023 by Bill Anderson: I presume that John and Florence moved to 11 Grandview Parade, Epping, New South Wales, which was a short distance from where I first lived as a child at 54 Boronia Avenue, Epping. I remember visiting Granny Warth and Grandpa Warth there when I was very small. She had one or two toy cars that I and my brother Davide were allowed to play with and I liked them because they were the same models as real cars of the day. When I got older and got to learn about what car models were, I recalled that one was an FJ Holden and the other was an EH holden. They were painted grey.
There was a chook pen in the back yard, and one time we were visiting Granny and Grandpa, my sister, Kylie went with me into the back yard at “Number Eleven”, as Mum and Dad used to call it. There was a large patch of nasturtiums in the back yard on the way up to the chook pen, and crystal clear water had collected in the centre of the large leaves. Kylie told be it was fairy water, and as a young child, I was filled with wonder by the water coming from fairies to sit in the centre of the leaves.
Grandpa Warth came to live with us at Boronia Avenue after Granny died. He used to walk David and me down to the shops on the corner of Midson Road and when we got back home, we would all have a glass of milk, toasting each other with “Jolly good health!’ as we clinked our glasses together before having a good swig.
