Annie was born on Friday, 18 June 1875, the second and youngest daughter and fourth child of George and Martha Jane Hewett nee Wilson. She married George Scott Leighton on 11 February 1903 at the Wesleyan Church, North Sydney, youngest daughter of the late Mr. George Hewitt, of Hornsby, the ceremony being performed by the Reverend George Lane, assisted by the Reverend J. Spence. They had seven children, George L. V. (born 1904, died 1971), Frederick E. (born 1905, died 1989), Reginald J. (born 1911, died 2009), Maurice A. (born 1912, died), Bessie B. (born 25 July 1916, died 29 July 1916), Beth B. (born 1917, died) and Lancelot A (born 4 May 1921, died 19 January 1943). Annie died 26 November 1933
