WEDDING
James — Powell
In the Hamilton Methodist Church on June 14 the Rev. C. P. J. Clarkson officiated at the marriage of Miss Myra Thelma Leonora Powell, youngest daughter of Mr. Charles H. Powell and the late Mrs. Powell (formerly of Maroochydore), to Mr. Arthur Ernest James, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. James, Townsville.
The church was decorated with roses, gerberas and poinsettia.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of lace and organza over satin, and the bridal veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. A bouquet of gladioli, roses and sweet peas was carried by the bride.
Miss Joyce Gieseman. who was bridesmaid, was frocked in a gown of blue embossed organdi, and Miss Regina Powell (niece of the bride) as junior bridesmaid, wore pink embossed organdi. Their blue and pink veils were topped with a halo of pink rosebuds and forget-me-nots, and they carried bouquets of pink gladioli and carnations.
The frocks were made by the bride.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Keith Hamilton.
Mr. Bruce Learmonth presided at the organ. During the signing of the register, a solo, ‘I’ll Walk Beside You”, was rendered by Mr. Ray MacDonald.
A reception was held at the Hamilton Church hall where 50 guests were entertained.
For travelling to the North by car the bride selected a frock of blue crepe romaine and added Burgundy accessories.
