Emily (Emma) Tregerthen was born in 1830 at Cheltenham, Gloucester, United Kingdom and baptised on Sunday, 17 January 1841 at All Soul’s, St. Marylebone, London, Middlesex, United Kingdom. Emma married Henry Augustin Swan on Monday, 17 February 1851 at St. James’s Church of England, King Street, Sydney, New South Wales. Henry was born about 1829 at Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom, son of Edward Swan (1801-1851) and Sarah Rpberts (1804-1851), his wife. Emma arrived in Sydney, New South Wales on board the “Lord Stanley” on Wednesday, 28 August 1850.

Emma has twelve children with Henry:– Henry Edward, James William, George Edwin, John Thomas, Frederick Augustus, Charles Alfred, Ellen Louisa, Lewis Alexander, Sarah Frances Sophia (Min), Alice Matilda, Emma Lydia and Ellen Louisa.

Emma died 13th August, 1903 at Lee Street, Wellington, New South Wales and was buried in the Church of England Section, Wellington Cemetery, Wellington, New South Wales. Henry died 10th September, 1918 at Gloucester Road, Hurstville, New South Wales and was buried 14th September, 1918 in the Church of England Cemetery, Woronora, Sydney, New South Wales.
